Bike your way along the beautiful Riviera Maya from jungle to thatched roof villages. Visit the important archaeological sites of Tulum, Coba, Chichen Itza and Muyil and learn their histories and mysteries. Did the Mayans believe 2012 was the end of the world or a new beginning? Enjoy the diversity of the jungle and wetlands and its varied species of birds and animals. Swim the cenotes ( freshwater sinkholes), explore the jungles of Mexico's second largest national park – the Sian Ka'an Biosphere reserve, and snorkel the world's second largest coral reef system.

  • Day 1 – Arrive at the Cancun International Airport

    Upon arriving in Cancun be welcomed by your professional naturalist guide. Check-in to your hotel in Cancun's hotel zone for a briefing about the activities, security and other important information for your tour. Dinner at your hotel.

  • Day 2 - Cancún – Isla Mujeres – Cancún. (20 miles/32.2 km)

    Early breakfast. Bike to the small ferry port to catch the ferry to Isla Mujeres. Snorkel at the world's second largest reef. Enjoy a delicious lunch buffet before returning to Cancun where you cycle back to your hotel. Hear a lecture on coral reefs.

  • Day 3 - Tulum – Sian Ka'an - Tulum (22 miles/35.4 km)

    Early breakfast at your hotel. Drive to Tulum to visit the famous archaeological site, sometimes known as Zama – Mayan for ''city of dawn'' since it faces the sunrise. This is the only Mayan city that is located on a cliff overlooking the Caribbean Sea. After the ruins bike to the Sian Ka'an Biosphere Reserve to kayak in the wetlands and learn about environmental technologies. Lunch is inside the reserve. Later bike back to your beach front hotel in the Tulum area for dinner. Participate in a special Maya purification ritual.

  • Day 4 - Tulum - Coba (40miles/64km)

    Early breakfast at your hotel. Bike to Coba, stopping to snorkel in the crystal clear waters of the Grand Cenote. Have lunch in Coba. In the afternoon, visit one of the largest Mayan cities of the Yucatan - Coba's famous archaeological site. This ruin is surrounded by four natural lakes and is also called "stirred by the wind". Dinner in Club Med Coba. Bike back with a rest stop at Grand Cenote and Lol Beh shopping store. Take an optional night hike to see crocodiles in the Coba lagoon. Hear a lecture on Mayan culture.

  • Day 5 - Coba - Valladolid (38miles/61km)

    Optional bird watching hike in Coba. Early breakfast. Bike from Coba to the colonial town of Valladolid. Enjoy the local traditions and culture of several Mayan villages along the way. Refresh at a cenote – freshwater sinkhole. Check-in to a Valladolid hotel, Meson del Marques. Enjoy an afternoon tour of the city stopping to see murals, the museum and its church.

  • Day 6 - Valladolid - Chichen Itza (38 miles/61km)

    Early breakfast and bike from Valladolid to the most important archaeological site of the Mayan World, Chichén Itzá. Formerly the capital of the ancient Mayan civilization it has been named one of the 7 Wonders of the World. Visit the Temple of Kukulcan, known as el Castillo, the Astronomical Observatory and the ball park where they played poc ta poc. Check-in in at Club Med Chichen Itza. Optional light and sound show in Chichén Itzá. Hear a lecture on Chichen Itza and the Mayan calendar. Did they believe 2012 was the end of the world or a new beginning?

  • Day 7 - Xcaret - Puerto Morelos

    Breakfast at your hotel. Drive to Xcaret, an ecological theme park, known for its water sports, educational sections and entertainment. Highlights include the park's two rivers (one with underground tunnels), the aviary, the butterfly and mushroom farms, the aquarium, the turtle breeding and releasing area, and the rodeo. Have a snack on your own at any of the park's restaurants or snack bars. The folkloric night show is included as well as a Mexican fair and both are well worth it. Drive to your hotel in Puerto Morelos.

  • Day 8 Departure

    Coffee on check out. Transfer to the Cancun International Airport. Departure times depend on your flights.
